Landscape architecture and horticulture
have played monumental roles in the history and habits of peoples’ lives throughout all ages. It still is where science, art and necessity meet. From cultivating food to creating spaces where special moments can be celebrated or a book can be read in tranquility, it is essential for our physical and psychological well-being. Look at the tranquil and beautiful spaces created by CHB Landscaping.

Flowers for Events ~ Overberg Flowers is a new business which operates out of Hermanus Western Cape.  They supply and deliver freshly cut flowers to your doorstep for weddings, private and corporate events at affordable prices.

South Africa ~ Overberg ~ Wine

Creation Wines Sommelier’s Choice:

In this popular series we feature selected restaurants from around the world. Each chooses a favourite Creation wine, tells us why and recommends a matching dish. This week we welcome Kayla-Ann Osborn from The Chef’s Table in Umhlanga Rocks, Durban.

Chef Kayla-Ann says: Our restaurant so close to the sea is the perfect setting to enjoy Creation’s cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon blend grown in the maritime wine ward of Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge. I love the Creation wines. They are full of passion, time and thought. As with food it is a case of ‘what you put in is what you get out’. I feel their philosophy is similar to mine in that they use the best of what is available to them and are also concerned about sustainability.

Things To Read

Tesselaar’s tangled tale! by Annalize Mouton “Johannes Jacobus Tesselaar, the son of a lowly cook’s mate, became the first land baron in the Overberg after Governor Willem Adriaan van der Stel. And, although he officially died childless, he probably fathered both a “White” and a “Coloured” family line. He left a progeny and legacy which to this day are being untangled in court and by various researchers.” Read this very interesting article about Tesselaarsdal and its fascinating history.

Food Trucks have been around for more than a century but the new craze for Gourmet and Fusion food from Branded trucks became a really big thing since 2008 with the success of the Kogi BBQ truck in LA. Elgin Oh Elgin! Some call it little Switzerland, some call it Eden but most people who swoosh past on the N2, have no idea of the treasures hidden behind the tall trees of the Elgin Valley.

Places To Go

  • South Africa ~ Cape Town

The Cape Town’s Official Tourism website suggests 50 reasons why Cape Town can be good for your health.
Among the interesting things to do you will find the Cape Camino: The route embraces the city of Cape Town in the north, Cape Point in the south and crosses over at Constantia Nek. It is divided into 7 legs of about 20 km each, for ease of digestion and understanding.

  •  South Africa ~ Overberg ~ Creation Wines

Situated in the heart of the Hemel & Aarde Valley just a gentle drive from either the George N2 at Caledon (17min – 19.7km) or the Hermanus R43 (14min – 15.7km). You will be surrounded by beauty and catered for with relaxed charm. #JustDoIt!

  •  South Africa ~ Overberg ~ Elgin Valley

Some call it little Switzerland, some call it Eden but most people, swooshing past on the N2, have no idea of the treasures hidden behind the tall trees of Elgin. I was recently blessed with an invitation to explore and experience this paradisaical place and am a new and great admirer. I love falling in Love with places – especially when it offers so much more than beauty! Like a really handsome man who is also handy. Read more of the wine, women and song of Elgin…albeit #Wine, #Cider, #Food & #Tranquility.
