West Coast – Paternoster to Britannia Bay

West Coast – Paternoster to Britannia Bay

Text and photos by Frieda Lloyd

A weekend walk is a great way to relax while getting some exercise.  I joined a group and took a hike from Paternoster to Britannia Bay.  20 kilometers along the roughened West Coast of South Africa. An easy walk on flat beach to prepare for the Fish River Canyon hike that we’re doing in July.  After 6 kilometers we took a break when we saw the first cottage that’s part of the Great Paternoster Nature Reserve.  This break was a chance to get rid of my walking shoes that was biting at my Achilles heel.  All worked well and after 5 hours of catching up with new acquaintances we were back in Paternoster. Ready for a drink at Blikkies Pizzeria.  A great West Coast start to the weekend. #weskus
