THE CELLAR
Our limited quantities of red wine varietals have been maturing in the PaardenKloof Estate cellar since 2008 and debuted with PaardenKloof Die Lang Pad Shiraz 2008, Peter Clarke Collection, in 2013.
This was followed by subsequent releases of the 2009 and 2010 vintages under The Long Road, Peter Clarke Collection which features the artwork of one of South Africa’s top black artists, Peter Edward Clarke who found inspiration in the Overberg and particularly Tesselaarsdal.
PaardenKloof’s first two Sauvignon Blancs also belong to the Peter Clarke Collection, Gaiety and The Bend in the Road, as well as it’s first Pinot Noir, The Kiss 2013.
Our first Cabernet Sauvignon release was the 2009 Die Agterhuis, which was truly an exceptional wine, achieving a 4.5. star Platter rating. This release was followed by the 2010 vintage Die Fynboshuis, our current flagship. These two wines were released under the PaardenKloof Limited Release Series due to the small quantities produced, with PaardenKloof Springtide Sauvignon Blanc 2017 the first white in this series.
In early 2007, PaardenKloof Estate released its first Sauvignon under the Ecology label, which in later years became our “little sister” lifestyle brand.
Our Ecology range of wines spans all the varietals produced by PaardenKloof, with focus on the younger vintages, characterized by less oak and a new world approach to winemaking. Part of the Ecology series is the exciting Desert Rose Collection which provides a fusion between the PaardenKloof heritage brand characteristics and the Ecology profile and currently includes a Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
