Hermanus has been renowned for its vibrant art scene for many years. Jozua Rossouw, owner of Rossouw Modern SPACE has been instrumental in setting the tone very high since he opened his Fisherman’s Gallery in 1995. Jozua and his team have successfully placed The Rossouw Modern as one of the most respected, profitable and aesthetically pleasing Art Galleries in South Africa. The excellent taste, knowledge and focus on a large range of sought after and original art brings visitors from near and far and never ceases to enthrall the visitor.

Apart from the guidance to selected young artists, the Rossouw Modern team grows and elevates the fortunate chosen ones and facilitates national and international platforms to showcase their work.

First Friday Art Walk on every month during the warmer season.

The quaint historic fisherman’s cottage, which offers a relaxed atmosphere in which to appreciate fine artwork and special attention to client and artist alike, has made this gallery a not-to -be-missed experience.

Jozua’s second gallery, accross the road from the original Fishermans Cottage is Rossouw Modern Space and is known and popular for its monthly solo and group exhibitions aimed at exposing and developing the talents of young emerging fine, modern, conceptual and installation artists, in a large modern space.

“A Real Gem”
Visited on the Friday night art walk. This gallery has some splendid works on display – the owner is a delight and spent time circulating which we noticed many other owners on the walk did not, preferring to drink with regulars.

This gallery also has a second property close by so don’t miss it.
