Why would a British husband and wife team invest so much time, money and energy into the production of wine when they could be taking it easy? Speaking with Tim Pearson it is clear to see the passion they have is to produce the best wine they can from what they feel is one of the very best wine regions in South Africa.
Buying land in 2006, planting in 2007 and 2008, harvesting in 2010, and here they are a few years later winning international awards; but Tim says “whilst the awards are great, and praise from the critics positive, they simply help put you on the wine map. It is the feedback from our customers that is and always will be the most important to us. Our vision is to continue to produce wines of quality that over deliver for their price point.”
Believing in building a strong team, Tim and his wife Vaughan work with closely with Riana Van der Merwe as their winemaker and Peter Davison as vineyard manager, to produce a range of five wines. Each is a single varietal produced to reflect old world characteristics with new world fruit. …Please click here to read more about Seven springs.

Black Oystercatcher is a family-run wine farm at the cool southernmost tip of Africa. Here the boutique Black Oystercatcher Wines are made from the intensely fruity grapes, formed in Cape Agulhas’ extreme growing conditions.
And having farmed at Cape Agulhas for generations, the Human family, know these conditions well. They use the constant coastal winds, our marginal soils and the unique geology to grow our small compact berries. The result? Boschrivier
Not only a Wine Farm, you will find Crafts,Biscuits,Fresh Jams and Honey and a full on Fun BRAAI on Saturdays during the school holidays.
The farms belonging to Dr. NJT De Villiers lie in the heart of the Overberg. Situated at the foot of the Klein River Mountain range in the picturesque Akkedisberg Valley on the R326 (17km from Stanford and 35km from Caledon).
In 1998 the first vines were planted in the De Villiers family vineyards in virgin shale soils in one of the finest terroirs of the Overberg. Three hectares of Shiraz, six hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon and three hectares of Shiraz bush have since been planted. The mild climatic conditions, unique territory and guidance from top wine consultant Mike Dobrovic have ensured that high quality grapes are grown along with superb wine production.
The De Villiers family set foot on South African soil in May 1689. They embraced the wine industry, which was founded in 1659, and has since striven to perfect the art of viticulture and wine making.

Award winning wines South Africa ~ Oneiric
Tucked away in the Kogelberg Biosphere is the exquisite farm that is Oneiric. The name Oneiric comes from the Greek meaning “to dream” and the farm and the wines are both that. A visit to Oneiric often leaves our guests speechless.
Raka
This wine was named after Raka, the beloved fishing boat of Piet Dreyer, proprietor of Raka wines. For more than three decades Piet has plied the seas of the southern ocean in search of the finest catch. The same passion has found home at Raka, where the Dreyer family now pursue the earth’s bounty for the creation of fine wines.

Restless River
At Restless River, things are done a little differently, and mostly by hand. Probably more like the way things were done before mass production. It takes a lot of time and effort to make wine this way, so no more than a few thousand bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are produced. But, this love and care results in unique, somewhat rebellious wines that have their own distinctive personality and character, shaped each year by that particular vintage.
They passionate about making quality wine for wine lovers that appreciate and seek out site-specific, fiercely individual, artisanal wines. Because they craft it by hand, without the use of much machinery, they are restricted in terms of quantity, and so unfortunately there’s not much to go around.
If you are visiting in the Hermanus area, give them a call because we do encourage private tastings on the farm so we can show you just how we do things around here – and don’t expect to see anything too conventional. www.restlessriver.com View Map
