The Guardian ~ Of Heaven On Earth

The Guardian Boutique Accommodation Hermanus

The Guardian Of Heaven On Earth ~ Luxury Self-Catering Accommodation.

When you drive away from a magnificent experience feeling nourished, grateful and upgraded on a cellular level, you know that you were right in wanting to be there. You also know that you want more. More of that tranquility, more of that secluded safety, peaceful privacy, interior and exterior elemental synergy and definitely more of that soul-soothing beauty.

Derek and Sharon have optimised a boutique haven of stylish serenity. You find eye-pleasing spaces, combinations of colours, textures, artworks, textiles and magical complex simplicity everywhere. They make quirky elegance seem effortless. Over-the-top and understated luxury in abundance and in poetic harmony with each other.

The cottage we stayed in was spacious yet cosy, normally an unlikely combination. The elegance flows from the patio, lounge, and kitchenette through to the upstairs bedrooms. Even the en-suite shower rooms are beautifully designed to create a relaxing sense of space and light. There is an all-senses pleasing absence of anything jarring or disturbing. Calming garden and mountain views flow through every window, gently announcing the time of day and the mood of the mountain.

Exploring The Guardian’s luxurious self-catering units and surrounds is like following the trail of very classy fairies who ethereally floated through with magic wands, sprinkling fairy dust of excellent and eclectic taste along their way. They were definitely having lots of fun.

I love that some of the artworks, textiles and objet d’art are for sale, showcasing talent and boosting awareness of artists. I find this approach truly magnanimous as I would want to keep it all and cannot even contemplate ever parting with any of it.

The fact that the estate is less than 10km from Hermanus but cannot even be seen from the Hemel & Aarde road, adds to the excitement of discovering a hidden gem. The Guardian is perfectly situated for a breakaway from the rat race, healing time after a trauma or medical procedure or a home from home to just reconnect with yourself and nature.

The name “The Guardian” was inspired by and epitomises the sense of being protected by the majestic mountain range flanking the valley. One actually feels a calming Mother Earth sense of security, peace and tranquility. For centuries this mountain range has been influencing the unique cool climate weather patterns, being a catchment area that feeds the water table and Onrus River. The water caresses her face on its way down to nourish the valley soil with minerals and nutrients. We so love to call this our unique terroir and we taste it in the world-renowned award-winning wines of this spectacular region.
