Tesselaarsdal Farm Accommodation Kleinwaterval Plaas

If you would like to spend some time away from the city, rat race, noise, pollution and traffic, right in the middle of nowhere, I suggest you book yourself a cosy cottage at Klein Watervalplaas just outside Tesselaarsdal! It is only an hour and a half away from Cape Town and you can enjoy serene country life while watching Alpacas grazing right in front of you.

Klein Watervalplaas (little waterfall farm) consists of a mix of animal pastures and Fynbos veld. It covers an area of 26 hectares and is situated in the historically rich Tesselaarsdal area of the Overberg, Western Cape.

The Tesselaarsdal road leads off the Hemel and Aarde Valley Road (Hemel en Aarde Vallei) which means Heaven and Earth Valley and it graciously lives up to its name every time.

The valley is sprinkled with magic and award winning wine estates, restaurants, known as the “corn belt” and one of the top Canola producing areas in the country.

Water is abundant on the farm, which is bordered by it’s own perennial stream, and has a small waterfall. Water is piped down from the slopes and fed to the various tanks on the property to provide the accommodation units with ample fresh water. The water is clean, unpolluted, if slightly colored, and 100% potable. The discoloration is caused by tannin in the soil but still much healthier than ‘City water’.

I love the elegance created by the clean, simplicity of these spacious units. I love that one can totally relax, sleep late or go for an early morning stroll on the farm. It creates a sense of freedom and makes it feel homely and welcoming. Highly recommended!
