Forest Bathing
Forest bathing, as a calming and healing practice, became known in Japan in the 1980s. The obvious feel-good factors all apply but now we understand more about the physiological benefits, apart from the eye-pleasing scenery, gentle hiking exercise and extra oxygen. Phytoncide is a substance emitted by plants & trees and generally means the aroma of the forest. “Phyton” means “plant” in Latin, and “cide” means to exterminate.
